Big bois

It really doesn't matter what size the cat is. Tiny little kitten, chunky house cat, or giant lion stretched out in the sun… they all somehow stretch exactly the same way. Front paws all the way forward, back legs extended dramatically, giant yawn included for maximum effect. Watching a massive lion do the exact same sleepy little stretch as a kitten really reminds you that all cats are basically built from the same blueprint.

Take this as your reminder to stretch a little. We already know you have been sitting there staring at a screen for way too long like the rest of us. If cats can wake up from their seventeenth nap of the day and commit fully to a dramatic full-body stretch, you can at least roll your shoulders and stretch your back for thirty seconds. Your spine will probably appreciate it.

Long live the big stretch

Saying “big stretch” when a cat stretches is basically impossible to resist. The second those little paws go forward and the back arches up dramatically, something activates in people’s brains immediately. Nobody even thinks before saying it. It just comes out automatically every single time like a programmed response. Cats could stretch fifteen times a day and somehow every single one still feels important enough to narrate like it is a major athletic achievement. The tiny yawn afterward always makes people lose it even more too.
